- FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -
Mayor Mike Tamerius announced today that the City of Creston will receive $165,000 from the estates of Marshall and Willa D. Camp for construction of the Creston Skatepark. “I’ve been in contact with the executor of the estate for nearly a year”, said Tamerius. It was the couple’s wish to benefit youths in the Creston community through this type of gift. The entire estate has been directed to the Creston community, and this is the first of several gifts.”
“I cannot think of a better gift to the youth in our community”, said Tamerius. “Not only will they finally get their skatepark, but they will know it is largely because of the generosity of people they likely never met, yet who cared deeply about them. That’s a great lesson in giving back that they will remember as adults.
Judy Hodge, chair of the skatepark funding committee said, “We knew the Camp estate was very interested in our project. Through the Mayor, we were able to provide the estate with detailed information on both the project and the efforts of the youths. The Creston Skatepark is no longer a ‘half-pipe dream’. With this wonderful gift from the Camp estate, we can move forward and make it a reality.”
